Poecilia Wingei 'Royal Blue’
Description
Meet the Poecilia wingei 'Royal Blue’, a striking Royal Blue Endler that brings dynamic color and lively energy to any small freshwater setup. Known for their compact size, these Endlers are ideal for nano tanks and peaceful community aquariums, delivering color and activity without requiring a large footprint.
Key reasons to choose the Royal Blue Endler:
intense royal blue body with vivid accents that remain lively under standard aquarium lighting, especially when paired with a balanced diet. - Compact, community-friendly temperament: these small livebearers stay active and curious, coexisting happily with other peaceful species in planted or open-water layouts.
- Hardy and adaptable: thrives across a range of tropical conditions, making them suitable for beginner aquarists and seasoned hobbyists alike.
- Easy to breed and observe: their livebearing nature makes scrolling through a natural breeding cycle simple to witness, from darting adults to curious fry in planted corners.
- Low-maintenance care: a varied diet supports color and health, and their robust biology means they tolerate routine hobbyist routines with proper water quality.
Ideal setup and care tips to maximize color and vitality:
- Tank size and layout: a minimum of 10 gallons is recommended for a small group, with dense or mid-height vegetation to provide shade and fry hiding spots. Floating plants also help create comfortable microhabitats and reduce stress.
- Water parameters: keep tropical conditions within roughly 75–82°F (24–28°C) and a pH around 7.0–8.2. Soft to moderately hard water in the middle of that range generally supports strong coloration and health.
- Diet: feed a varied diet consisting of high-quality flakes or pellets, supplemented with live or frozen foods like daphnia, daphnia, and baby brine shrimp to bring out their best blue tones.
- Breeding and fry care: consider keeping a small group (one male with several females) and provide ample plants. If fry appear, a separate nursery or dense planting helps increase survival without constant intervention.
- Tank mates: pair with other peaceful, small species that won’t outcompete them for food or stress them with aggression.
Who will love this stock? hobbyists who want a dazzling centerpiece in a compact setup, beginners seeking an approachable yet striking fish, and seasoned aquarists looking to add a reliably colorful Endler to a mixed-species community. The Royal Blue Endler isn’t just a pretty face—it’s a resilient, engaging addition that rewards attentive care with long-lasting color and entertaining behavior.
Why this variant stands out: the Royal Blue Endler combines the classic charm of Poecilia wingei with a bold blue palette that shines under everyday lighting. Its smaller size, peaceful demeanor, and straightforward care make it a practical choice for enriching any freshwater hobbyist’s collection, especially those focused on color-focused, low-maintenance setups.
