Betta Siamorientalis
Description
Discover Betta Siamorientalis, a true wild-type betta that brings natural elegance to your freshwater setup. This species embodies authentic patterning and a streamlined fin structure rooted in its Southeast Asian heritage, making it a standout choice for serious aquarists who value character over flash alone.
Designed for hobbyists who appreciate resilience and nuance, Betta Siamorientalis thrives in a stable, softly filtered environment with plenty of hiding spots and gentle water flow. Its compact size makes it ideal for mid- to large-sized planted tanks as well as well-planned nano aquariums.
- Authentic wild-type beauty: natural coloration with subtle iridescence and markings that shimmer under aquarium lighting, delivering a dynamic, ever-changing look from every angle.
- Compact, manageable size: typically around 2.5–3 inches, perfect for 5–20 gallon setups and peaceful community arrangements.
- Resilient and adaptable: thrives across a range of tropical freshwater conditions when kept with stable temperatures (24–28°C) and consistent water quality.
- Peaceful temperament with proper housing: best kept alone or with non-nippy companions in a well-planted tank; ensure a secure lid to prevent jumping.
- Nutritious, varied diet: readily accepts high-quality betta pellets, with occasional live or frozen foods like daphnia or brine shrimp to enhance coloration and activity.
- Smart tank setup tips: create a planted environment with driftwood and a lush foreground, plus shaded swimming zones to mirror its natural habitat.
- Maintenance that supports longevity: steady 25–40% weekly water changes and a reliable heater to keep daily conditions predictable.
Who is this ideal for? Betta Siamorientalis suits experienced hobbyists expanding a species-focused collection, as well as beginners ready to commit to a true wild-type Bettas experience. It works beautifully as a centerpiece in a species-specific display or in a calm community tank that avoids aggressive tank mates. This is a fish that rewards attentive care with graceful movement and a subtle shimmer as it explores a thoughtfully planted aquarium.
